Hi kushballz,

I'll be looking after your log review but before I do that, I need you to do a couple of things including letting me know what problems you are having with your machine:
  • You are running HijackThis from a temporary folder. When run from a temporary folder, the backups HijackThis
makes may accidentally get deleted, so please put HijackThis into a permanent folder.
Full instructions on how to do this can be found here:Detailed Explanation
Brief instructions to create a permanent folder are:
    • Click My Computer, then C:\
    • In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
    • That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis".
    • Now you have C:\HJT\ folder.
    • Put your HijackThis.exe there.
  • Run HijackThis.exe, click on the scan button
Click on the Save Log button and save the log.
Notepad will open with a copy of the logfile.
Right click, select all, right click, select copy.
Come the this thread use the Add Reply button and right click & paste the contents into the reply box. Include information about the problems you are having.
Click the Add Reply button to complete your post.

Hi kushballz,

Thanks for moving HijackThis and posting the new log. The problem with AIM may be due to a viral infection so I have asked you to run two online scans. Please carry out the steps in the order they are given. You may find it helpful to print these instructions out as you will not have access to the Internet whilst you are running in Safe mode. Please let me know if the online scans find anything.
  • Perform a full scan here: Trendmicro, check AutoClean and let it remove anything it finds.

Perform a second full scan here: Panda Online, follow the instructions on the screed, make sure these are checked:
    • Disinfect automatically
    • Scan compressed files
    • Scan e-mail files
    • Neutralize Trojans
Let active scan remove anything it finds.

  • Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:
How to see hidden files in Windows

  • Download System Security Suite here:
System Security Suite Download & Tutorial. Unzip it to your desktop.
Install the program. Don't use it yet.

  • Restart you machine in Safe Mode:
    • Reboot your computer
    • As the machine starts, continually tap the F8 key
    • You will then be presented with a menu screen
    • Use the the up/down arrow keys to select Safe Mode
    • Press the Enter key to boot in that mode.
  • Run HijackThis
Click on the Scan button and when complete
Put a check beside all of the items listed below
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...sario&pf=laptop
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...sario&pf=laptop
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {120E090D-9136-4b78-8258-F0B44B4BD2AC} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ms.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: MaxSpeed - {120E090D-9136-4b78-8258-F0B44B4BD2AC} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ms.exe (file missing)

Close all open Explorer windows and browsers
Click on the "Fix Checked" button
When complete and all files removed, close the application.

  • Please delete the following files or folders (delete item in bold). Please do not be concerned if
any of the items are not found as they may have been automatically removed by actions I had
you take earlier in the cleaning process.C:\WINDOWS\System32\ms.exe >>> file
  • Close all windows and browsers that are open.
Clean out Temporary Folders and Temporary Internet Files as follows:
    • Open the System Security Suite that I had you download earlier.
    • In the Items to Clear tab check:
      - Internet Explorer (left pane): Cookies & Temporary files
      - My Computer (right pane): Temporary files & Recycle Bin
Click the Clear Selected Items button.
    Close the program.

  • Reboot your machine in normal mode, run HijackThis and post a new log here using the Add Reply button. Please let me know if the online scans found any infections and how AIM is now.
