Hi, can anybody suggest why my Windows Media Player 11 won't work any more?
I keep getting the message 'cannot play this file' nine times out of ten, whereas everything worked fine before, and as far as I know I haven't altered my system or anything.
I tried re-installing WMP but the problem's still there.
I'm XP Home.
Thanks

Right click the file and select error details

Please post the error message hear, as it will give us clues as to what's the problem

Right-click isn't giving any error details.
All I get when I try to play a file is this message in a box in the middle of the screen -

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is located on the Internet, connect to the Internet. If the file is located on a removable storage card, insert the storage card"

but I am connected to the net, yet WMP can't seem to connect to the files.

Hey mate, I'd try re-installing WMP 11.
If all else fails, hit the reset button.

I did but the prob was still there, HOWEVER I then deleted all the files that wouldn't play, then re-loaded their addresses from floppy and it seems to have done the trick.. :)
The old files must have been corrupted I suppose..

Ah, but trial and errors only good until you get yourself into a hole and have to cart your PC to the shop and leave it with them to bail you out of trouble for the usual 15 fee, I'm used to it (sniffle).. ;)
