Hello crowdedisland

Copy and Paste this post into a new text document or print it for reference

1. Re-open HijackThis and select "Do a System Scan only" and place a checkmark in the boxes before the following entries:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://softwarereferral.com/jump.php?wmid=...6Ojg5&lid=2
O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {88418AA3-16F5-4FC2-A9D8-90B1266DF841} - C:\WINDOWS\nsduo.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FACFC449-5DFF-0F7E-DD3F-0DC54B0B47B7} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\gjhuu.dll (file missing)
O21 - SSODL: msmhost - {54AE2840-CD21-455D-B9FF-B0E21DEE4BB4} - C:\WINDOWS\msmhost.dll
O21 - SSODL: msmdev - {4E87D828-22E2-4B56-8CD3-DA7DB3987B5D} - C:\WINDOWS\msmdev.dll

Close any Explorer windows which may be open and click the "Fix Checked" button.

2. Download this version of SmitfraudFix by S!Ri from either of these mirrors to your desktop:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.zip

Right click SmitfraudFix.zip and Extract (unzip) the SmitfraudFix folder inside to your desktop.

Please Reboot your System into Safe Mode
Shut down your system, then Restart your computer as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. from the menu select the option to enter Safe Mode

open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

3. Re-scan with HijackThis and post the new HJT log & The C:\rapport.txt

Thank you.

First thank you so much for your assistance helping me solve this.

I ran the steps that you recomended and have the logs below.

Please be aware that when I reboot into normal mode after running Smitfraudfix I get a pop up window that says Cannot find file c:\windows\privacy_danger/index.htm

And when I open IE the Ultimate CLenner is the web site it still goes to.

Thanks again.

Hello crowdedisland

Copy and Paste this post into a new text document or print it for reference

1. Can you please disable your Real-time when doing this or any fix on your system to Disable Windows Defender

Open Windows Defender
Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

2. Re-open HijackThis and select "Do a System Scan only" and place a checkmark in the boxes before the following entries:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://softwarereferral.com/jump.php?wmid=...6Ojg5&lid=2
O24 - Desktop Component 0: Privacy Protection - file:///C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger\index.htm

Close any Explorer windows which may be open and click the "Fix Checked" button.

3. Download ComboFix.exe to your desktop.
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Doubleclick combofix.exe to launch the application.

Follow the prompts that will be displayed on the screen.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.
When finished, it should produce a log, combofix.txt.

Post this log in your next reply

Thank you.

Hello crowdedisland

Copy and Paste this post into a new text document or print it for reference

Please note that Symantec and BitDefender entries are showing in your logs, to have more than one Anti-virus running will only slow your system down and cause confliction.

1. Please download the OTMoveIt from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt.exe
Save it to your desktop.

Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

C:\VideoAccessCodecInstall.exe

Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
Click the red Moveit! button.
Close OTMoveIt

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

2. Hold Down The Windows Key + E to Open Windows Explorer

Select: Tools >> Folder Options >> View
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. <-- important
Click Yes to confirm the changes, Click OK.

then please go to: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
At the top select the Browse button then navigate to this File and Submit it to be scanned.
C:\sspsetup967_.exe
any results please Copy & Paste them in your next reply

Can you please also upload this file to be scanned at Jotti
C:\WINDOWS\system32\6B57E6F119.sys
any results please Copy & Paste them in your next reply

3. Go to Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name

Restart the computer.

Now CLICK HERE select the Download button next to "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2"
"Accept" the License Agreement Then choose the First download link "Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language".
Please note - You must Install this version Offline.

4. Re-scan with HijackThis and post the new HJT log, the OTMoveIt log, the jotti results and let me know how this system is running now

Thank you.
