Hi my name is Logan,
I recently built a computer buying parts from Newegg. I bought a Biostar K8M800 Micro AM2 along with an AMD Athlon x2 4200. After installing all the parts I turn on the computer and I hear the dreaded long beebs. I know that this means there is a problem with the RAM, but I have 2 sticks of PNY Optima 1gb and it fits my motherboard fine. I bought those sticks the same day at COMPUSA so they are new and I do not suspect them to be bad. The computer has never POSTED.

unplug the power cord, wait a minute or so, clear cmos with the jumper(see manual), reset jumper after another minute or so

see if you get further along in posting? if not then power down again, redo the power cord and then remove one stick of ram

retest

if still no post try the other stick

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

Thanks for the respones,
The problem is that I have done this at least 10 times already. I'm thinking that COMPUSA probably did give me some bad RAM so it is not being detected by the BIOS.

if I had to speculate/guess, I would think with 2 different sticks of pny ram and cmos cleared and no post, then it's more likely the biostar motherboard

according to newegg there were several doa's, some wouldn't post with newer cpu's etc

a few where the ram wasn't compatible?

Thank you,
I've seen reviews like that too. I believe the RAM is compatible so it is more than likely the board.

Have you tried reseating the RAM and cleaning out the slots? How about the video card (clean the slot and reseat the card)?
