AMD's ATI division is reversing its open source strategy by offering better open source drivers.

ATI will now develop fully functional 2D and 3D drivers for Linux. Although the drivers are still closed source, the firm will release documentation that allows third-party developers to build and support their own drivers.

This is a very positive move for AMD-ATI because it shows renewed support for linux in the graphics arena.

after the FLGRX mess up they need to do a little C.Y.A. work. The last driver for anything under the 9550 doesnt support the most recent Xserver. yeah that made a lot of people switch to the competition (myself included)
