Sadly I'm back >< It's weird...this thing popped up and it said Windows something something from a serious error so I clicked "Send Report" and then this is what I got...

You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a "stop error." A stop error requires you to restart your computer.

Problem report summary

Problem type
Windows stop error (a message appears on a blue screen with error code information)

Solution available?
No

What does this problem mean?
Windows has encountered a problem it cannot recover from and it needs to be restarted

Cause
Unknown

Computer symptoms
A message appears on a blue screen with error code information (for example: 0x0000001E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)

Additional steps for you to take
Please continue to send problem reports so analysts at Microsoft can study and try to correct the problem as quickly as possible

Am I infected? What should I do? My computer takes FOREVER to shut down now...and my internet turns off after while so I have to restart the comp to make it go back on..and my computer reboots on its own...

the msg told me to restart the computer...does it mean reboot or system recovery? o_o help anyone?

In Windows XP, the default setting is for the computer to reboot automatically when a fatal error occurs. An alternative is to turn off the automatic reboot feature so you can actually see the error code/STOP Message (which is also known as the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD)).

To change the recovery settings and Disable Automatic Rebooting, right-click on My Computer and select Properties > Advanced tab. Under "Startup and Recovery", click on the "Settings" button and go to "System failure". Make sure that "Write an event to the system log" is checked and that "Automatically restart" is unchecked. Click "OK" and reboot for the changes to take effect.

This will not cure your problem but instead of crashing and restarting you will get a blue diagnostic screen with information displayed that will allow you to better trace your problem. Next time your computer crashes copy down the entire error message (including all the numbers) and post it back here.

I know nothing about computers and my dad always yell at me when theres a prob  4 people uses this! anyways well I got it and I couldnt copy..so I wrote it down...here let me type it

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identifed in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver update. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS Memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Start Up Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical Info:

Physical memory dump deleted.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assisstance.

I checked "Automatic shut down" or whatever again when I restarted computer...I didnt want to see the blue screen the second time because I dont know what to do! >< I know nothing so I dont want to contact anyone...can anyone tell me if this is really major since Windows is shutting down itself to stop it from being infected? I guess its BIG...I'm scared...is there a cure? >< and I have NO idea what the "steps" the thing said meant...I know NOTHING!

There are various causes for a 0x0000007E stop error, including hardware incompatibility, a corrupt driver or service, or other software problems.

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any errors at the time of the reboots.

To open the Event Viewer go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Alternately, go to Start > Run and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Check in all three categories (Application, Security, and System).

If you find an error that occurred at the time of the reboot, right-click on it and select properties. Copy the information in the window and post it back here. This will help us diagnose your problem.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Probably caused by : ntkrpamp.exe ( nt!CcFlushCache+1b5 )

I've seen this type of error before, and usually it is related to corrupt drivers. Check your devices in Device Manager (Start > Run > type "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter). Look for any red "X" or yellow "!" symbols. If you find any post back the information.

I was wondering..where did you get "Probably caused by : ntkrpamp.exe ( nt!CcFlushCache+1b5 )" ? O_O and I did went to device manager...I didnt see any red X or yellow ! o_o I mean I dont know where to check for that...but I did double click on all of the items on the list..ALL...and this is what it looks like

Posted Image Posted Image

...all of the items on the list said "no items installed for this" or "working properly" [as seen in image 2]...am I suppose to do something else to look for red and yellow signs? or is my system working fine...? and THANK YOU for replying! =D

The memory dump often pinpoints a faulty driver, but in this case it mentioned a Windows installation image file. This is unlikely to be the problem.

This stop error can also be caused by bad RAM. I suggest you run a memory test. There's an article here that outlines the basic procedure for using MemTest86+.

The basic rule is, you must run at least four passes -- not four tests, four passes through the entire battery of tests. The only acceptable result is zero errors.

Probably what happened is that your computer was not set up to boot from the USB flash drive. Most newer computers can boot from a flash drive, but they must be set up to do so. If your computer is more than a year old it may not be able to boot from a flash drive.

I suggest you make a bootable floppy disk, or -- if your computer has no floppy drive -- a bootable CD.

I found some instructions that are a little more detailed here.

Once the bootable disk is made, you can just leave it in the drive and reboot the computer. You should go into BIOS setup and make sure that the Boot Order is set so that your first boot device is either the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive, depending on which type of disk you made. If necessary, change the boot order, save your changes, and exit Setup. When the machine restarts it should boot from your Memtest disk, and the program will start automatically.
