A friend-of-a-friend passed along a copy of Spyware Terminator to me. He says this is the best anti-spyware program out there. Has anyone used this software?

Spyware Terminator is a program that was previously listed as a rogue product on the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products List because of concerns that the vendor (Crawler) had connections with a known adware distributor (IBIS). Initial testing found no problems with the software but out of caution it was monitored for several months, retested and again no problems were found which would continue to justify its listing as a "rogue/supect" progam.

Spyware Terminator is free, easy to use, provides real-time protection to guard your system and offers an option for Host based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) protection. It also offers ClamAV if you don't already have an anti-virus program installed. If you do, then there is no need to choose that option as using more than one anti-virus can cause conflicts and system instability.

I would not consider it the best anti-spyware program as there are paid for products that are more effective. However, it is a good free alternative if you want its protection without having to pay.

Thanks for the imput. Two follow-ups though

It seems that this is the only completely free (no limitations that i could find) antispyware scanner with a resident shield. Is that accurate? Also I've been using SpybotSD. My computer is capable of running both but is there a compatibility issue there?

There are no conflict issues with Spybot.

It seems that this is the only completely free (no limitations that i could find) antispyware scanner with a resident shield. Is that accurate?
