Hi there, I'm new to this forum and looking for assistance to remove a virus from my PC.

When I log on the PC I get pop-ups saying I have a virus - trojan.32.looksky and inviting me to download software.

Internet Explorer defaults to "http://softwarereferral.com/jump.php?wmid=6010&mid=MjI6Ojg5&lid=2"

The following 3 shortcut icons have appeared on my desktop -

Error Cleaner - "http://virusprotectionproonline.com/shandler.php?sid=502&aid=232&said=98&pn=1&sg=1"
Privacy Protector - "http://virusprotectionproonline.com/shandler.php?sid=502&aid=232&said=98&pn=1&sg=0"
Spyware & Malware Protection - "http://virusprotectionproonline.com/shandler.php?sid=502&aid=232&said=98&pn=1&sg=2"

I have downloaded and ran HijackThis software but am unsure how to proceed.

Any assistance would be welcomed.

Use the smitfraudfix tool in the link below. Read the directions carefully.

Follow up with scans using the programs below. Let us know the results please.

Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.
