I recently installed AdBlock Plus which worked fine for a while, and then my troubles began. First off, I lost the toolbar on the compose email page in Yahoo Mail.
Next, my Firefox theme vanished quickly followed by the settings for cookies, tabs, colours etc. Now I have to re-set my preferences every time I open Firefox. I have tried SS&D in safe mode, BitDefender scan in normal mode, Ad-Aware, SAS, and TrendMicro Housecall. All came up empty. Needless to say, I've removed AdBlock Plus from my system, but the problems still persist. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using System Restore or System Restore from a command prompt in "SAFE MODE" to return to a previous state before your problems began?

I've tried System Restore in safe and normal mode. Each time the restoration failed to complete. How do I perform a system restore using command prompt?
