My computer was infected by VirusProtectPro, which I was able to remove via SmitFraudFix and SuperAntiSpyware. However, at the same time, pop-ups began to flood the computer and I haven't been able to find the cause.
They seem to be activated each time that I go to a different site with the browser. I uninstalled and re-installed the browser, IE 7.0. No difference.
I am using the most current version of Zone Labs Security Suite and although I can load the latest virus definitions, I cannot download the latest anti-spyware data. (Zone Labs has not responded to my inquiries.)
I have scanned with AdAware (found a few cookies and one registry fix), twice with Spy Bot (first fixed 6 cookies and 2 folders, then fixed a few cookies), twice with SuperAntiSpyware (first got rid of most of the VirusProtectPro stuf, then found nothing), Panda (found some Recycle entries and fixed), and Stinger (found nothing), as well as using Zone Labs virus and anti-spyware scans (which found nothing).
I cannot use System Restore. I have five restore points from the last two weeks but each time I run it, the computer goes through the restore process, reboots, and then at the last minute says it can't be done. I have also tried "Last Known Good Configuration" to no effect.
The Windows XP Pro SP2 OS is fully up-to-date. I have removed all Temp and Internet temp files as well as cookies, histories, etc. I have used Zone Lab's Firewall settings for privacy/sites to specifically block some of these pop-ups and eventhat does not stop the m.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum zippity
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

Yes, SpyBot was getting in the way; I tried to disable it as soon as it booted but it was still slowing the process. TeaTimer is now disabled.
Ran ATF cleaner, applied Registry Notepad fix. Dleted the "O2 - BHO: (no name) - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - (no file)", but there was no "O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c00F5C38.dat" entry.

The computer seems much better. I am able to download and install anti-virus database from Zone Labs. Ads are still attempting to appear each time I change sites (according to the Zone Labs Privacy Advisor), but the Firewall now is catching them when it wasn't previously (my settings are extremely conservative).

Richie,
All seems well. Thanks so much!
New System Restore point set, all old ones deleted. All the mopping up done too. I already have and am familiar with Ccleaner, which I use regularly. I appreciate the preventitive information as well.
Thanks again!
