That's how to add an external. But I think it works both ways. I'll stay posted.

So when I examine it etc. I find out if I can replace it and read up on this stuff. But Thanks alot !

Yep, it worked,
at first I got a blank screen and just a flicker of the Compaq log, then it stayed blank,
same thing several times so I used the only restore disc I had for my 4300US, and it goobled up the restore discs, and I have a WXPsp1 ready for to take on the world, I'm, going to get the upgrade disc for it soon, so thanks much to all.
