Hello,

Im currently having major problems with my desktop (on laptop atm), i recently run Perfectdisk to help speed up my pc but somehow it's made my D:\ Drive disappear. My pc does still come on but it freezes every few seconds, no matter how i boot up my computer (safe mode or normal) it show that there is no D drive. It still has the HDD icon when i go on "My Computer" but when i right click it says it's empty.
I've tried system restore, it did nothing. I have no idea how to fix or even where to try and start.

Any Help Or Info Would Be Very Helpful.

Is D an optical drive, a separate hard drive, or a partition in your main drive?

I've had a look and found out it isn't a separate drive, it's a partition on the main drive.
When i right click my computer it says the Partition is still there but nothing on it, i've tried system restore it was no help. I also tried compaq recovery but it was saved on the d partition which it says is offline and i cant find the recovery disks (had pc about 3 yrs so no idea where they could be).

Would it be the best thing to take it to my local pc shop and hope they can restore it ?

Thxs for your help.

Was there data that you had saved on the D: drive - or was it just the recovery partition that's built into the computer? Does the computer work fine without it? If so, I'd suggest just reformatting the drive and using it for storage. Eventually you may need to restore the computer, so the recovery disks are essential to have (especially since the D: drive is gone).

Since you don't have them, you'll have to order them from Compaq. They'll cost about $20 US and will take 4 or 5 days to arrive. This will erase everything on your system, so you'll want to backup your important data first.
