Hi! Since you already know I have a problem, I would like to tell that I am not from America or UK so if you notice a grammar mistake, don't be mad. Maybe you will think that this message is very long, but I will try to describe the problem best as I can in order to make it easier for you to help me (if you want to help me at all). The problem is that every time I turn on my computer the Blue Screen of Death appears and the message says that I have a problem with BIOS, and it also says that I should upgrade it, because it is not fully ACPI compliant (I don't know what that means). If this means anything to you, I should also mention the ***STOP line. Every time the blue screen appears first two numbers are the same (0×000000A5 (0×00000002...)) but the other numbers are changing. I don't know which virus is doing this, because I scaned my computer with Avast 4.7, and there were few different viruses. First, the infected files were always in the same folder: C:/System Value Information/Restore... and they were infected with Win32: Adware:gen, Win32: Spyware-gen and Win32: Trojan- gen. I put them in Chest. I scaned my computer again with Ad-Aware SE and Spybot: Search and Destroy, and I cleaned everything they found. Then I scaned my computer with Stinger antivirus and it found one virus and deleted it. Unfortunately I forgot its name, but I remember that it was in system files. AntiVir PE Classic also found one virus, I think that the file's name was "svchost", or something like that. I have seen that everybody uses the HijackThis to solve this problem, so here is my HijackThis log. Can someone, please help me, I would really appreciate any kind of help!

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum lost_case
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Before we can provide you with any further assistance,you first need to go here and install Service Pack 1a;
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...p1/default.mspx
This will patch numerous security vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer and the Windows operating system.
As your machine stands right now it's exremely vulnerable to infection.
You need to get these updates installed first before we can proceed or we’ll both be wasting our time.

Do not install Service Pack 2.
If you install SP 2 on an infected machine it will cause serious problems within the operating system.

Once you have SP1a installed, post a new Hijackthis log please.

Hi Richie! Thank you for answering my letter, I though that I will never destroy this stupid viruses. I am writing this letter so you wouldn't think that I left! I am trying to install Service Pack 1a, but i have some problems. Every time when installation reaches "Registration key" a little window shows up, and it says "Access denied", and installation stops! :flowers: A friend says he can help me fix that, so when I fix it and when I install SP1a I will post a new Hijack This log. Bye!

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum lost_case
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Before we can provide you with any further assistance,you first need to go here and install Service Pack 1a;
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...p1/default.mspx
This will patch numerous security vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer and the Windows operating system.
As your machine stands right now it's exremely vulnerable to infection.
You need to get these updates installed first before we can proceed or we’ll both be wasting our time.

Do not install Service Pack 2.
If you install SP 2 on an infected machine it will cause serious problems within the operating system.

Once you have SP1a installed, post a new Hijackthis log please.

There's still no signs of Service Pack 1 installed on your pc,please follow the above instructions as requested.

Hi! I can't install Service Pack 1! Installation reaches the end, and when it should complete it says " Access denied". I have tried to install it 5 times, and every time the same thing!
Is there anything I could do?

See if the following helps.

Clear your 'System Restore' points by doing the following:
Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
Select 'System Restore'.
Select 'Turn Off System Restore On All Drives'.
Select 'Apply'.
You will then get the following warning:
"You have chosen to turn off System Restore.
If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.
Do you want to turn off System Restore?".
Then select 'Yes',your 'System Restore' directories will be purged.

Restart your pc.

Turn 'System Restore' back on:

Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
Select 'System Restore'.
Unselect 'Turn Off System Restore On All Drives'.
Select 'Apply',then click 'Ok'.

Please run this online virus scan:Activescan using Internet Explorer.
Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
A new window will open...click the Check Now button
Enter your Country
Enter your State/Province
Enter your e-mail address and click send
Select either Home User or Company
Click the big Scan Now button
If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
When the scan completes, click the See Report button, then Save Report, and save it to your desktop.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply.

Download\unzip to your desktop AVG Anti-Rootkit:
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup...up-1.1.0.42.exe
Launch AVG,click on the 'Search for Rootkits' tab.
Then click on 'Perform in-depth search'.
When the scan has finished, right click on the scan results 'Save results'.
Copy and paste those results into your next reply.

If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version.
Now download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

Hi! I can't run Active Scan! When I started to download ActiveX, AntiVir guard found one virus: W95 Blumblebee.1738 in C:/windows/system32/ActiveScan/SET23.tmp. I moved it to quarantine and then I managed ti install ActiveX. Then it started to download ActiveScan. Installation reaches the end and then it stops and says I should try again. I don't know what to do, I have already tried several times.

AVG Anti-Rootkit is working fine, and it didn't found any infection on my PC.

Here is ComboFix log:

Your version of Sun Java is out of date.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older versions of Sun Java, and then update.

2. Scroll down to where it says 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 3'.
3. Click the "Download" button to the right.
4. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
5. The page will refresh.
6. Click on the link to download 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' and save to your desktop.
7. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
8. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.

Your log is clean.

Download/unzip/install Dial-a-Fix from here:
http://djlizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-v0.60.0.24.zip
Launch the program, place a check in all the boxes.
Then click on 'GO' at the bottom.
Restart your pc when Dial-a-Fix has done.

Now using Internet Explorer go to Windows Update and try installing all the latest including Service Pack 2.
*NOTE*
I suggest you first create a new System Restore point first as a precautionary measure.
Let me know how you get on.
