I recently noticed that i dont have any hidden files. Now knowing that i should see a few i went in to make sure that I had it enabled so that i can see them. But once i opened Folder Options i noticed that i did not have a Hidden files and folders section. In Folder options i look to where it should be but it goes from "Display the full path in the title bar" option to "Hide extensions for known file types" option...thus skiping the Hidden files section all together. The account that im using has admin priviledges and im running Windows Vista Ultimate. Help?!?

Try this:

Find this key in your registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden]

Modify the string value "Type" and enter "group" as value data.

After the edit is complete hit F5 to refresh, and go look in your Folder Options.

The same key exists in my Vista Ultimate, so it's a valid fix for Vista also.

Well, it's common enough that I found it easily with a Google search - so I'd suspect that there was some common piece of software that turns it off.
