Posted 23 August 2007 - 11:16 PM

I recently ran an ad-aware scan, and came across this little thing when I ran an ad-aware 2007 full scan:

Win32. TrojanDownloader.Conhook
Family ID: 1011
[300021471] Root: HKCR Path: clsid\{4e86a50b-a7ff-4cae-b8b7-28a13b6d46f0}
[300021474] Root: HKU Path:
S-1-5-21-839522115-117609710-725345543-1003\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\ext\stats\{4e
86a50b-a7ff-4cae-b8b7-28a13b6d46f0}
[300021486] Root: HKLM Path: software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper
objects\{4e86a50b-a7ff-4cae-b8b7-28a13b6d46f0}
[300021488] Root: HKLM Path: software\microsoft\dinf
[300025955] Root: HKLM Path: software\microsoft\dinf

The same has been found with Spybot

HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DInf
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DFC

Note: Spybot recognized these keys as apart of "Virtumonde"

Upon removal I did an additional full scan, on both and they both are still coming back. My spybot and ad-aware have detected other (unrelated) issues previously, but it has apparently removed them. Please help me with my hijackthis log to remove the issue(s). Thank you. :thumbsup:

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum TTC :thumbsup:
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

So far things seem to be running well. :flowers: I haven't encountered a WinAntiVirusPro pop up yet, and my spybot seems to not be picking up any more issues....

I have deleted Combofix.exe (on desktop) and the Qoobox folder (in C:\ ). I however can not find something noted as "VundoFix Backups" in C. I do however see an empty Combofix folder. After doing a search in C, I do not find anything named "VundoFix Backups".

Should I just proceed from here to the next step?
