Hi there I am trying to install xp home on a friends computer. I have fdisk'ed and reloaded windows once on it already and had some problems that I figure might have happened when thier son stepped on the power bar that it all is connected to and shut it down in the middle of loading. So I thought that I would just fdisk the drive again and try a clean install so see if it will fix it. Well here I am now and when it is copying files to the computer to install (still the blue screen) it only gets to 11% and hangs there, has been there for about 30 min now.....

Could this be a prob with just the cd-rom or a bigger prob like the hard drive........

The computer is a older IBM personal 300PL, p3, 550, with a 8 gig HD and 128 ram////// I know it is low but this is all they have and I am trying to hook them up...

I am going to try Boot and Nuke next.......

I would definitly try the Boot and Nuke or a low level format using something like this.

Try updating the driver for your network adapter.

If using a router, access the router info page to ensure that the connection is properly setup.

If it's a Motorola cable modem, try entering http://192.168.100.1/startup.html into your browser to see the status of the cable modem (this works with my old Motorola Surfboard modem).
