I'm still unable to do windows update. When windows start, the Automatic Updates is automatically disabled. When i enable it, all attempt to download updates fails. When something does download, initiation fails. It says something that the path could nt be executed. Also, I have severe pop ups. My windows also keeps blinking. So it's harder for meto type. Since I have to keep clicking on internet explorer windows, so that the browser is selected.

Here is my log:

I'd like to add that i tried running spyboy and the executable file seems to be missing. I keep trying to install it again, but the executable file does not seem to be downloading or the virus keeps deleting it. this is a pain!

Hello,

Try this:

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Thanks,
tea

I downloaded it, but it doesn't execute when it's done.i tink the virus disables it.
I already saved it to my desktop and kept trying again. A window pops up, but it keeps disappearing.

Hello,

Okay, let's try something that just scans and see if we can catch it that way.

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: https://europe.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there...
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Download this tool to your desktop:
http://www.uploads.ejvindh.net/rootchk.exe
Run the program. After a short time a logfile will turn up. Copy the contents of the log into the thread.

Thanks,
tea

Ok. I was able to execute Combofix. It scanned and changed my clock settings. After all scans were completed, it had to shut down the computer. After that, I don't know what happened. Windows just started never gave my a log. My clock settings is still in a different format as of now. So I'm not sure if it's still running. My automatic updates is working fine now though and I have no more pop ups. Here is a Hijackthis log in case you would like me to post it:

Hello,

You've picked up a new nasty........

Trojan.Mitglieder.S is a Trojan horse that opens a back door on a compromised computer and also acts as a proxy server. The Trojan can periodically contact Web sites with information gathered from compromised computer.

http://www.symantec.com/security_response/...-99&tabid=2

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or it if it contains any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, Your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. If it were on my PC I would not hesitate for a moment to do so. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

Should you decide not to follow that advice, we will of course do our best to clean the computer of any infections that we can see but, as I already stated, we can in no way guarantee it to be trustworthy.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do.

Regards,
tea

One more question. I have an external hard drive. Would that also have been infected and thus need to be reformatted as well?

Here's a log from Combofix.

Hello,

From the HijackThis log:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [german.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\wintems.exe

In ComboFix :
"german.exe"="C:\WINDOWS\system32\wintems.exe"

http://www.castlecops.com/startuplist-12306.html

I see also that your Safe Boot key is messed up.

One more question. I have an external hard drive. Would that also have been infected and thus need to be reformatted as well?

Possibly. Probably the safest thing to do. It can be disinfected also, especially if you know there is no sensitive information on it that can be stolen.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of further help.

Regards,
tea
