I have had 9 parasites in the past that have invaded my registry & slowed down my computer, I downloaded spybot which showed me what programs were infected so I could remove them manually which I did. BUT my Windows XP is still slow (even when Norton antivirus isn't run). Any suggestions as to Y?!!

Spybot isn't the only program you should run.
Also download Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.
Then follow these instructions for installing and running HijackThis.

Hi Lela,
raw is right about running AdAware as a complement to Spybot Search & Destroy. I would further suggest that you submit a HijackThis log for analyses--we may be able to find out what's going on with your system that way. Very often nowadays antispyware apps don't remove everything. Please see this thread and be sure to post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum.

Just out of curiosity, why did you manually fix the parasites after Spybot identified them? Instead of letting Spybot do the fixing?
