OK this is my first time. Here's the question. Whats the best way, quickest and cheapest to clean a harddrive from a mac or pc

Best is DBAN also very thorough
Quick would be FDISK off a boot floppy

DBAN is a good choice. I like Kill Disk. It too can be ran from a floppy or CD, and is free.
There are other freeware Wipe Utilities than are stronger, but in true these two are all you need (DBAN or Kill Disk).
