I've been swamped with pop-ups when browsing the internet recently. I only ever use Firefox and get pop-ups in that and I also get them in Internet Explorer - which I literally never use.

I should also point out that all the appropriate pop-up add ons have been installed for Firefox and I've now done the same for Internet Explorer. When the problem became even more noticeable and aggrivating I installed and ran AdAware, Spybot and HijackThis but even after doing that the problem persist - mainly because I'm not sure what action to take next. I've posted my HijackThis and Spybot logs (listed problems that SpyBot found) at the end of this post (sorry if I'm not meant to do that?).

I've already shown them to one person I know who says he doesn't see anything too serious except I may be infected with something called 'Vundo' - well I ran a check for that too but nothing appeared. So basically what I'm asking is - how do I keep getting so many of these infuriating ads!?

If anyone could help me it would be so greatly appreciated, I've tried to avoid taking action myself incase I do it wrong and so have left the window open for someone more knowledgable.

Thanks in advance!

Hi davebrady,

The things Spybot found are cookies and nothing to worry about... they are harmless!

------------

Can you rename HijackThis.exe to Analyse.exe ?
Rightclick Hijackthis.exe and choose rename.
Then reboot and after reboot, doubleclick Analyse.exe and post the log it creates in your next reply (this will be a hijackthislog ofcourse).

---------------

Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Step #1

Scan again with HijackThis and check the following items:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jiycscvjc] c:\windows\system32\jiycscvjc.exe jiycscvjc
After checking these items, close all browser windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked".

Step #2

Then, Go to start > controlpanel > software > add/remove programs and look if you have one or more of next programs installed and uninstall them:

Netpumper
Bitroll
Bitgrabber
CiD Help / CiD Manager
Download Plugin for Internet Explorer
Zone Media

This because they are bundled with the malware you are dealing with (swizzor aka lop).
Don't worry if you can't find them.

Then reboot. Important!

Step #3

Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

Folder::
C:\DOCUME~1\DENISE~1\APPLIC~1\HOLELINKRULE
C:\DOCUME~1\DENISE~2\APPLIC~1\HOLELINKRULE
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Long slow road itch
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\16 new ping long
C:\Program Files\HOLELINKRULE
C:\DOCUME~1\Jonathan\APPLIC~1\HOLELINKRULE

Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

Posted Image

Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Please post the log from the ComboFix scan located at C:\ComboFix.txt together with a new hijackthislog.
