Hi. Since yesterday afternoon, I have been receiving popups from OuterInfo, once about every 5 minutes. I went through the steps in the instruction post; I used Norton, Spybot, already had a firewall, Stinger, and all of the other things that were recommended. However, I continue to get popups. It seems they come from OuterInfo, and the popups bring up web pages related to video games, and such stuff.

I will occasionally leave my computer, and when I come back, there are 2 or 3 new items installed onto my computer, and displayed on the desktop.

One more thing, not sure if it's part of the virus or not, but my web page keeps going out, like when you click on the bottom taskpane thing, so I have to click back on the page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

And... Here's my Hijackthis:

Hello Psado, my name is Rorschach and I'll be helping you with your problems.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

So in your next reply please post the following : the ComboFix log, a new HijackThis log, and tell me how your PC is running now and if you had any problems.

It seems that the computer is getting faster, and I have yet to get a popup. However, that thing where the page "goes out" and I have to click on the page to start typing again is still there. Is this caused by the virus, or is there just a setting I need to change?

I'll update you if I get a popup, so far so good. Any other advice?

Here's the ComboFix log and the new hijackthis log.

Hello Psado, we have a bit to do still.

1. Please re-open HiJackThis and choose do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below(if present):

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mebevumac] C:\Program Files\MSN\mebevumac22011.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ncao] "C:\DOCUME~1\KARENS~1\MYDOCU~1\WNSXS~1\msiexec.exe" -vt yazb
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Psfw] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\F?nts\??xplore.exe"

2. Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, including browsers, so that nothing other than HijackThis is open, then click Fix Checked. A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES. Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Next :

Open notepad (Start > Run and type notepad > click Ok) and copy/paste the text in the quote box below into it:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mfc71.dll
C:\Program Files\MSN\mebevumac22011.exe

Folder::
C:\Temp
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ICM3
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CC1
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bgfig5
C:\DOCUME~1\KARENS~1\MYDOCU~1\WNSXS~1

Save this as CFScript

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

Run ComboFix again and post the resultant log file.

* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
Do not run it yet !!

Next :

Reboot into Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer begins to boot. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete this folder in bold (if present):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\F?nts

The ? in F?nts will be some random character or wildcard.

*Now let's run Dr. Web Cureit
  • Double click the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, in the menu, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply.
I see you have Viewpoint Manager installed on your PC

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware.
I recommend that you remove the Viewpoint products; however, decide for yourself. To uninstall the the Viewpoint components (Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player):
  • Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  • In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  • In Add or Remove Programs, highlight >>Viewpoint component<< , click Remove.
  • Do the same for each Viewpoint component.
So in your next reply I need to see the following : the ComboFix log, the Dr. Web Cureit report, a new HijackThis log, and tell me how your PC is running now and if you had any problems.
