Hi Clover K.,

Sorry for the delay, this forum is really busy.

The first thing I see in this log is Buddy2Buddy. You should remove this program immediately. Here is a topic that will explain why I am advising this:

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=10040

The topic is rather old, So I went to Buddy2Buddy's website and checked their current Privacy Policy. You can read it here:

http://support.buddy2buddy.com/privacypolicies/20061201.asp

As you can see it has not been revised since November 2006, well before the date of the topic I linked to above. All the objectionable policies and practices are still there.

Here is another commentary on this "service:"

http://www.eagle-wing.net/ClickPicks/Inter...tising-12.shtml

According to information on this support page, "Buddy2Buddy software can be easily uninstalled using Add/Remove in the Windows Control Panel." Click Start, Control Panel, then Double click Add or Remove Programs. When the list is populated, scroll down the list and select Buddy2Buddy Chat, then click Remove. Follow the prompts to remove it, then reboot the computer when finished.

After removing that program, please run another HijackThis scan. Place a check next to the following lines:

O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://zone.msn.com/bingame/chzl/default/p...ploader_v10.cab
O16 - DPF: {E473A65C-8087-49A3-AFFD-C5BC4A10669B} (Quantum Streaming IE Player Class) - http://mvnet.xlontech.net/qm/fox/06101102/qsp2ie06101001.cab

Then close all other windows on the desktop, and make sure no programs are running minimized in the taskbar. Then click Fix Checked. Click Yes to confirm. Close HijackThis. Then reboot the computer.

Next I would like you to Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
  • Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
  • Click the Scanning Control tab.
  • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.
    • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
  • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
  • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
    • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
  • Click Close to exit the program.
Finally, run a fresh HijackThis scan and post that log to your next reply, along with the Superantispyware log. Also please tell me as much as you can about any remaining symptoms, and whether you had any trouble performing these steps.

Dave

Hi again,

SAS proved its worth, it turned up some remnants of Smitfraud. Better run a special tool to make sure it's really gone:

Please download SmitfraudFix

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

Please do not run any other options of Smitfraudfix at this time.

When you post the log, also please let me know how the computer is running now.

Dave
