Somehow in "My Documents" file - there are several files that seem to have been duplicated - except the the file name now start with $
i.e.:
$Application Data
$Desktop
$My Documents
$My Pictures

Needless to say, this is taking up a lot of room! Can I safely delete these files? Why is this happening?
I appreciate any help you can give me. I have Windows XP Professional, on a HP Media Center m7170n.

Thanks so much for any help!

Liz

Are these files or folders?
Have you compared, if they are folders, the contents of (for example)in My Pictures to those in $My Pictures ?
Cheers,
John
