First post. DriveCleaner got me. Need help.

Let's start with how stupid I am. I have been running my computers for 7 years without antivirus. Hate all the Symantec popups all the time. Never had a problem until now.

DriveCleaner somehow got onto my computer.

Anyhow, now I'm stuck. IE won't even open any longer. Anytime I try to run something, my computer just locks up. I tried to install Symantec, but everytime I do, it says it cannot install because it cannot start the services. The task manager is locked. It seems my admin access has been removed.

When I try to boot into safe mode, just a black screen appears. No icons. No taskbar. I can't do anything in there. It just has the black screen with safe mode in all 4 corners and the hourglass on the pointer.

Since I cannot do anything with the computer, I have downloaded a lot of anti spyware and huijack this. I will need to know what I need to do to get this taken care of.

Thanks for the help. Let me knwo what info you need to help me out and the steps I need to take.

Thanks,
Frisco
