ntoskrnl.exe is hogging up the CPU every time I try to open a web page, type in a web page, click on a link, it also freezes some other programs until it gets done doing what ever it is that it's doing. which is very frustrating

That's only suppose to run at startup, have you scanned for infections?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

ntoskrnl.exe is a critical process in the boot-up cycle of your computer although should never appear in WinTasks whilst under normal circumstances Note: ntoskrnl.exe can be altered by the w32.bolzano and variants. If this process appears in WinTasks, please update your virus definitions immediately.

Here are two good programs to scan with.

Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

If it is not malware causing this problem, look at info in link below.
