Sleep Mode And Screen Saver

i did some clean up on my computer. i have vista home basic. anyway i deleted some programs just some google stuff that pop up. also did a disk clean up. now it will not go into sleep mode automatically i can put it in manually. and also my screen saver will not come on. i have seen a post about the sleep mode. where they said that doing a disk cleanup can mess up the sleep mode. is there anymore info on this or a way to fix it. thank you mike
PS I'm new to computers so if you can keep it simple

Try resetting the Power Options in Control Panel. Drill all the way down until you get to "Advanced Settings" and give them a whirl.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

got it fixed found out it a common problem went to Microsoft and downloaded a update. hid nonuser input data filter. its a optional update. it just came out. is there away to get this info out. mike
