No matter whether I click on the link at msn.com or go thruogh my start menu to Windows Update, the page will not load on this computer. I can go to Windows Update on my laptop, so it seems to be this comp. that has the problem. My Norton Anti-virus auto protect quaruntined "W32.HLLP.Spreada.B.spy" and scans since then have turned up nothing, AdAware SE turned up 2 registry problems and fixed them and scans now are clean there, Spybot S&D also scans clean. HJT Log follows:
Thanks for any help!!

I downloaded the trial version of "XOFTSpy 4.09" and it found 1 registry problem and is located in "software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run/usrpda" the "XOFTSpy" scan results state that it is a "Trojan/CWS combo virus" "registry value Trojan". But I cannot remove it with the "XOFTSpy" program unless I pay like $40.00 us, I can't afford that right now. Spybot S&D, Adaware SE, and Norton all find nothing on scans. Any help would be GREATLY Appreciated!! Thanks again!

Yes, the following line is legit: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = ftp=http://as400.americanracing.com;gopher=http://as400.americanracing.com;http=http://as400.americanracing.com;https=http://as400.americanracing

I do not use the proxy all the time, the proxy allows me to connect to the network at my place of employment.

Press control-alt-delete and end this process:

C:\Program Files\Spitfire\dialer.exe

can you get on the internet now? If you can delete that file. If not try the next step

Now please Download LSPFix from:

LSP-Fix

Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Run then program and press the finish button.

Then Reboot.

Does it work now?

If I end "dialer.exe" I can't connect to the internet, that is for my dialup connection, Spitfire is my ISP. I have run LSPFix before. but without the dialer I can't connect to my ISP. (Spitfire)

Ok, here's the situation now, I did as you asked and ended the process "dialer.exe", I did so while connected to the internet but the thing is, even after the process ended I stayed connected and currently making this post 2 minutes or so after the process ended. But the internet connection icon that is usually in my task bar when connected is not there and so now I don't know how to disconnect from the net without physically unplugging the line from the wall. (dialup phone line). The dialer program from Spitfire I got from Spitfire, they are my dialup service provider. I'm very confused now. Thanks for all the help you can give me.

just a side note in case I was unclear in my explaination. Connecting to the internet is not the problem, the thing that made me suspect a problem is that while online if I try to go to Windows Update to check for possible updates, the page will not load, I get a blank page and in the area at the bottom where you would see the page loading up it says "Done but with Errors".

I told you I was confused
Ok, I closed my internet connection through the control panel and ran LSPFix but there was nothing listed in the remove section after a scan, there where 4 items listed in the keep section. I don't know what to do, but I am currently connected with my Windows dialup connection program instead of the dialer that came from my ISP. But I still cannot get the Windows Update webpage to load. I also got rid of the proxy since I rarely used it anyway. Here is a new HJT log:

Update, Still can't get Windows Update to run, page will not load, can go to any other Windows webpage with no problem. Am not using proxy, am not using Spitfire/dialer.exe.
I get an error when I reboot, as the system begins to shutdown I get: "USRprdba.exe Failed to initialize because Windows is shuting down, Click OK to Terminate the Process". Here is the most recent HJT Log:

Did you delete the dialer.exe or is it still on your computer?

You can restore that entry to hijackthis by starting hijackthis and then clicking on config, backup, and then restoring the entry that had to do with that.

As for lsp-fix, as i said in the instructions, all i want you to do is start it and press finish.

When you go to windowsupdate.com does it give an error message? Does anything happen at all? Just a blank screen?

The dialer is still on my comp., I will have to uninstall it in order to delete the file. If that is what you suggest then I will do so. But it does not show in the HJT Log unless I'm using it to be connected to the internet.
The Windows Update page is just blank and at the bottom of the IE window it says "Done but With Errors" and also shows that i am in the internet zone. Thanks Again Grinler! even if you can't figure this out I still appreciate the help very much!!

Ok i want you to follow my directions to restore the dialer to your hijackthis log as stated above.

Then i want you to follow the instructions in this tutorial on removing the microsoft java macine and installing Sun's java:

How to remove the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM)

Then tell me if windowsupdates work
