Hi there,
my daughter (12) downloaded msn live plus - CID popups everywhere coming through on explorer, when i am on firefox
also downloaded a song
my nod 32 did not pick anything up, nor did my spybot or adaware apart from the usual cookies(both updated before scan)
nod 32 picked up a trojan obfuscated on next start up - full scan picked up nothing
ran adaware again picked up a trojan
installed and ran spyware doctor- 8 detections -LOP
i installed kapersky and boy did i get a shock- first scan- 1trojan downloader WMA wimad.k in song and 56 trojan obfuscated.
most of these where in system restore which has been turned off and on again since
superanti spyware picked up more and while it was running kapersky started picking up more trojan obfuscated
ran housecall antivirus- two more trojans and some malware -deleted
posted in malware forum advised to scan in safe mode- done kapersky and superantispyware - no detections
while trying to download and update these protection programes it was as if something would not let them update, or was running around my computer hiding ?
i am unsure if i have removed all my problems -- i dont think so
here is my hijackthis log
hopefully someone has the time to help me
your help is much appreciated

Hi,

The forums are really busy, that explains why logs get behind. If you still need some help, please start with posting a new hijackthislog in this thread. Don't start with a new thread.
Then I'll take a look.

Hi,

Do you still get these CID Popups?

Anyway, do next in the right order...

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R3 - URLSearchHook: SweetIM For Internet Explorer - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: SWEETIE Class - {1A0AADCD-3A72-4b5f-900F-E3BB5A838E2A} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: SweetIM For Internet Explorer - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Go to start > controlpanel > software > add/remove programs and look if you have one or more of next programs installed and uninstall them:

Bitroll
Bitgrabber
Bitdownload
Get-Torrent
CiD Help / CiD Manager
Download Plugin for Internet Explorer
Netpumper
Search Plugin
Torrent101
WinZix
W3player
Zone Media

This because they are bundled with the malware you are dealing with (swizzor aka lop).

This will uninstall the malware application.
In case, during uninstall, when asked for the uninstall Verification, please enter the numbers that will appear in the window.
In case it says that the file was not found, doublecheck again if you entered the exact command. If still the same, proceed with next steps.

Then reboot. Important!

After reboot,

* Download Deljob.exe and save it on your desktop.
Doubleclick Deljob.exe.

A log, (logit.txt) should open afterwards. This log will be present on your desktop
Post the contents of the logfile in your next reply together with a new Hijackthislog.

Hi,

Check and fix next entry in HijackThis again:

O3 - Toolbar: SweetIM For Internet Explorer - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)

There are still some folders present which are related with the CID popups, so let's delete them..
Most probably these folders may be hidden for you, so to reveal them, Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Please hide your hidden files and folders afterwards again, when we are done with this thread and your problems are solved, because above instructions to set your system to show all files, unhide legit files and folders as well.
And I don't want you to delete them because they may look suspicious. To hide them again, just perform the above instructions in the opposite way.

Then, navigate to and delete next folders:

C:\deljob
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Grey Global Mode Live
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\live 64 math does
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\roam platform active store

Let me know in your next reply how things are now..

so better not there at all empty or not !!!

Exactly, because these folders were created by the malware you were dealing with, so "empty" or not, they need to go

Everything should be OK now here. Just perform an extra scan with your Kaspersky to get rid of the leftovers if still present.
Don't worry if it will still flag some entries in your System Volume Information folder... This is your System Restore folder, so they won't do anything unless you perform a system restore and revert to the day that your system was infected.
As far as I remember, Kaspersky is able to deal with these infected entries in your System restore points as well. If not, then Flush your system restore points:
To do this, you have to disable systemrestore and enable it afterwards again.
(note: this will delete all your system restore points and malware that were present in it).

How to disable system restore in XP <= click me for instructions with screenshots
After you disabled System Restore.... Reboot.. and after rebooting, enable it again, so a new systemrestorepoint will be made. A clean one now! :flowers:

Glad I could help.

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.

Happy Surfing again!
