Hi, Fantastic site, and thanks in advance

OK, I just wrote my Western Digital external HD to full zeros aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now it doesn't appear in "My Computer".

WinXP has the little arrow thingy on the bottom of the screen to disconnect it.
When I tried to install it, it appears already installed.
I checked the MFG site and there is no driver, it works on Plug&Play.

I'm going to guess I need to reformat, but how do I do that if I can't access it?

It's probably something simple, but I can't find it, thanks for any help!

Click Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disc Management. find the connected drive in the right pane, click to select, then right click and click format.

Hope this helps.

Thanks oldf@rt. I tried what you said and had trouble..... then I connected the drive (OOPS)

It registers there, but doesn't give me a format option, just a partition option.

I don't think that's what I need to do correct?

Thanks again!
