I really need help removing a virus that I have in my computer. The virus is called "trojan.vundo". I have try many ways to remove the virus but haven't had any success. I google the virus and did the steps it told me to. I downloaded VUNDOFIX.EXE to remove it, but when I select to remove it. I get a message telling me file "c:/window/system32/jkhhiji.dll" can not be deleted because it is being used by another program. I didn't have nothing else running. I even try VUNDOFIX.EXE in safe mode and normal mode aswell. I next downloaded and followed the steps for VIRTUMUNDOBEGONE.EXE and no success either. I keep receiving unstopable pop-ups when I use my internet explorer browers and also slows down my computer. Can somebody please help me get rid of this ugly thing.

Thank you.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum jules17_00
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

RichieUK,

I want to thank you for helping me out. But I have a concern w/ the last post you place for me. Am confused at the last part of what you told me to do. When I proceed with the step: "Next click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup". I do not get the options you wrote down for me. Instead I automatically get a dialog box that says "Disk Cleanup is calculating how much space you will be able to free on [C:]. This may take a few minute to complete". "Scanning: compress old files"

It looks to me that it is froozen because it have been like that for quiet a while now. And the bars where it says it is calculating is at the same spot.

I never get the options that you stated for me (everything else before that, I have been able to do)
"The 'Select Drive' box will appear, click on Ok.
The 'Disk Cleanup for [C:]' box will appear, click on the 'More Options' tab.
At the bottom in the 'System Restore' window, click on the 'Clean up...' button.
A box will pop up 'Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?',click on 'Yes'.
Click on 'Yes' at 'Are you sure you want to perform these actions?'.
Now wait until 'Disk Cleanup' finishes and the box disappears. "

Is there something else I can do???

First back up the registry by doing the following.
Click on Start>Run,copy and paste the following bold text into the 'Open:' space, then press Ok.
regedit /e c:\registrybackup.reg
It won't appear to be doing anything, that's normal.
Your mouse pointer may have an hour glass along side it for a minute or so.
Please be patient and continue when the hour glass disappears.

Copy and paste the following bold blue text in the Quote box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: fix.reg to your desktop.
Then double click on the fix.reg file on your desktopPosted Imageand agree to merge the imformation into the registry, then restart your pc.

REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Compress old files]

Now try the System Restore instructions again, you should'nt have any problems now.
