Hi all,
I am hoping you can assist me with this.
So here is the background.....
I had a window pop up last week requesting to install a video active x object because it was needed to play a movie clip. Like an idiot I clicked install without thinking and after the installation was complete. Sophos antivirurs alerted me to malware infection and some windows popup messages informing me I had security vulnerabilities.

I uninstalled the zlob Active X Video Object using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and any other applications I didn't recognise.
I updated and ran a SPYBOT S&D scan and it found:Zlob video active x object(3 infections) and Spylocked.fake alert. It fixed all of them but it said one cannot be fixed and ask me to run at my next computer start so i clicked ok and rebooted. After spybot performed second scan it displayed the same message,it could not be fixed so can it run on the next start and i clicked ok, and restarted the system, it removed the final item after the restart.

The problem remains the some of the applications give errors at startup now, alupdate.exe which is supposed to be the sophos update engine
"The instruction at "0x00b41771" referenced memory at "0x1000a26c". The memory could not be "read""
"Click on OK to terminate the program"

Also my firefox & Internet explorer windows are hijacked, once I start either application I get about 4/5 new windows opening with gambling and pornography links most of the time crashing the application.

I have downloaded and run AD-AWARE, and XOFTSPYSE, I have performed sophos updates and scans to no avail.
I have also downloaded and run SmitFraudFix.

I would greatly appreciate assistance to remove the malware.
Thanks in advance.

Below are the logs from Hijackthis and SmitFraudFix.

1. Extract the zip file to your desktop or a permanent folder on your hard drive.
2. Open the folder and double-click on the Hoster.exe
3. Press "Restore Microsofts Original Hosts File"
4. Press "OK" and exit the program.

Go to:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS.
1) Right-click on the HOSTS file
2) Click Properties
3) You will see a window open,at the bottom of the window to the right of Attributes, check the box that says 'Read-only'.
4) Click Apply/OK.

Restart your pc.

--------------------------------------------

Download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Also post a new Hijackthis log.
