I'm trying to get an older PC to connect to DSL through a wired network and XP says the cable isn't connected. The PC is an old 450 mhz Gateway with XP home sp2. The only job for the PC is to connect to the internet and only stay at one site to access a card catalog, it will be used for nothing else. I got a Netgear FA311 pci ethernet adapter, installed it and the drivers, XP says that it's working properly in the card's properties, but even when it's connected to the network, it says that the cable isn't connected. I have checked the cable and reinstalled the card but still says it's not connected. Where do I go from here to get this PC connected?
