Non-responding Laptop

Hey I've got a problem with a laptop. My father used it just a couple of hours ago checking his mail, and then turned it off. Maybe an hour or half an hour later I tried to turn it on, but all I got was a strange beeping sound and a black screen. Any advice what to do?

The beeps indicate that the computer did not post (post stands for "Power-On Self Test"). The beeps will generally give you an idea of what the problem is. See the following pages for more information on beep codes:
