Are there any Free scanners out there for Rootkits and Keyloggers?
I have AdAware, Spybot S&D and AVG Free. Are they sufficient for detecting and removing Rootkits and Keyloggers?
Thanks!

Hi racingfan,

There is an anti rootkit product called AVG Anti Rootkit Free that some of our members use.

KL Detector detects keylogging activity on your computer.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Hi racingfan,

Thanks for the info! I forgot to mention that I have the AVG antirootkit. It seems to work fine, never found anything. But it won't run at all in "Safe Mode", is that normal?
The KL Detector only scans and detects, it doesn't remove what it may find. Know of any keylogger scanners that detect and remove?
Thanks!

The AVG Anti Rootkit Free tool should do the job.

AVG's definition of a Rootkit is:

Rootkits are used to hide the presence of a malicious object like trojans or keyloggers on your computer.

For security reasons, the driver which is required for the scanning process, is not loaded in safe mode. Therefore, AVG Anti Rootkit can't work in safe mode.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
