So I was trolling through the Computer Gigs section of Craigslist this weekend, looking to pick up some moolah by fixing errant computers when I came to a listing for a focus group that paid $50 for 2 hours to evaluate a user interface. "Sweet!" says I. Long story short, I went to the focus group this morning.
The focus group was being held by a certain graphics company (which shall remain nameless) which was testing out the utility interface for their next generation of DX10 video cards. I looked at it and played with it and gave them my opinion. Ho-hum.
So what did I get for my opinion? Quite a bit, actually:
1. a gourmet lunch (it was really, really good!)
2. a free multiport memory card reader (cool, goes for about $20 or ebay)
3. $50 in cold, hard cash (Grant is one of my favorite Presidents!)
PLUS (you're gonna die when I tell you!)
4. They will ship one of their brand spanking new, DX10, next generation video cards for free
when they are released! A free uber-good video card!
I know none of this is really all that interesting to you guys, but I was blown away! They did nnot mention the free card in their ad!
Of course, I had to sign a Nondisclosure Agreement which is why I can't name the company.
The moral of the story: focus groups are good; be in as many as you can!
