Hello,

I've been trying to remove malware from a Dell Optiplex GX150 with an Intel Celeron 797 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB hard drive, running MS Windows XP Home V2002 SP2, and Office 2000.

Initially the problem was with ucleaner/udefender. I first used SmitfraudFix in safe mode. I've also followed the instructions in the Preparation Guide post and cleaned temporary internet files and temp files, run Ad-Aware, Spybot, Housecall AV, Norton AV, McAfee Stinger, and made sure MS updates were current. I was unable to update MS Office 2000 because of some issue with the MS web site, but otherwise everything seemed ok.

I continue to have an issue at start-up. An "Open File - Security Warning" pop up window appears. The following appears in this window with "Run" and "Cancel" buttons at the bottom:

"Do you want to run this file?
Name: installer_en.exe
Publisher: LocusSoftware Incorporation
Type: Application
From: C:\Documents & Settings\PC User 1\Application ..."

If I close this window or click "Cancel", everything seems ok, but I'd really like to get rid of this. Following is the HJT log.

Please disable Spybot S&Dís protection,or it may interfere.
You can enable it after you're clean.
Open Spybot and click on 'Mode' and check 'Advanced Mode'.
Click on 'Tools' in bottom left hand corner.
Click on the 'System Startup' icon.
Uncheck 'Teatimer' box and/or uncheck 'Resident'.
Click the 'Allow Change' box.
Then, check next to the computer clock to see if the icon for Spybot is still there.
If it is, right click it and choose 'exit Spybot-S&D Resident'.
Restart the computer.

If you find you're experiencing problems disabling Spybot's Tea-Timer,follow the info in the link below:
http://www.russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

-----------------------------------------------

Disable Windows Defender's real-time protection,as it may interfere.
* Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start>All Programs>Windows Defender.
* Click on 'Tools'>'Options'.
* Under 'Real-time protection options', unselect the 'Turn on real-time protection' check box
* Click 'Save'.

-----------------------------------------------

Copy and paste ALL the following blue text in the Quote box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: CFScript to your desktop.

File::
C:\Documents and Settings\PC USER 1\Application Data\installer_en[1].exe

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"NI.UGDC_0002_N108M1007"=-

Now drag then drop the CFScript file onto ComboFix.exe as seen in the image below.

This will start ComboFix again.
After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
Let me know how your pc is running now.
