Hello,
I was advised by Mcafee technical support forum to run HijackThis and generate logs to help resolve a possible worm and Downloader problem on my XP computer.
I originally scanned with Mcafee and indications were that the Stration worm was present but could not be removed. Again ran a scan with command prompt and 4 infections remain.
Ran Stration virus removal program and confksd.dll, (2) ksdmgr32.dll, ksdstat.dll continue to plague the system. Log showed the "files were "Password protected, do not delete".

Below are the HijackThis logs. Hope this is not too inconvenient...could not attach the notepad txt files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum Lensspurt
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

First it appears you've no virus protection installed.
Download\install one of the following freeware options from the choice below.
Once installed update its definitions and then run a full system virus scan.

AVG7 Free Edition Antivirus:
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup...ree_446a965.exe

Avast! 4 Home Edition:
http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe

Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic
http://www.free-av.com/

-----------------------------------------------

Please download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

Hello Richie,

Browser is runing quite fast with both Netscape and IE! Considering using Firefox...what do you think?
The AppInit_Dlls: confdrv.dll etc.... was not present when I performed the HijackThis scan...assume it was removed.

Considering using Firefox...what do you think?

I personally use nothing else, its the best in my opinion and the most secure.

Download the latest version from here,Firefox 2.0.0.6:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

---------------------------------------------------------

Your log is clean
If all's ok,please do the following.

Find and delete:
fix.reg
Combofix.exe

C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\QOOBOX

Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
In the 'System Restore' window, click on the 'Create a Restore Point' button, then click 'Next'.
In the window that appears, enter a description\name for the Restore Point, then click on 'Create',wait, then click 'Close'.
The date and time will be created automatically.

Next click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup.
The 'Select Drive' box will appear, click on Ok.
The 'Disk Cleanup for [C:]' box will appear, click on the 'More Options' tab.
At the bottom in the 'System Restore' window, click on the 'Clean up...' button.
A box will pop up 'Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?',click on 'Yes'.
Click on 'Yes' at 'Are you sure you want to perform these actions?'.
Now wait until 'Disk Cleanup' finishes and the box disappears.

Read through the information found here,to help you prevent any possible future infections.
