Itunes And External Hard Drive

hello everyone-
i purchased an external hard drive and i was wondering if i could move the itunes program and my library over to the external hd from my computer. this way i could have more room on my computer. if i have my itunes program on my external hd could i still transfer songs from itunes to my ipod if the external is plugged in to the computer?

I would keep the itunes program on your regular harddrive, but here's a guide to moving your songs around, it worked fine for me. http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/...new-hard-drive/
