Hey, I'm purchasing a new HP laptop that already has Vista Home Premium installed. However, I'd really rather not use Vista right now and would like to go back to XP. Now I have a system restore OS disc that I got with my other computer that has XP MCE on it and would like to use that. Can anybody tell me how the heck I can do this? Format the hard drive and reinstall? And what programs can I use to format the HD?

If you still have XP on the computer the system restore disc went to, you may be violating the licensing agreement by installing two copies of the OS with the same serial number. The best thing to do is to buy XP and do a clean install of the hard drive.
