I am aware at federal, 99% of IT jobs are outsourced. What about in state or county levels? How competitive is it to get IT jobs at state or county?

If you work for state or county, do you like it there? Do you get some sort of unofficial tenure?

My Moms IT guy is outsourced and has changed very little over the last 10 years (one died, another moved away). Her office only consists of 4 PCs, a laptop and a router/firewall/server thingy (what she calls it I havent seen it yet so I dont know what it is).

BTTW her office is what you could call "Ultra" Low Level government work. Its a board that controls what goes where on a lake that spans 3 counties so while funding comes from the counties IT doesn't.
