A while ago my ipod stopped registering in itunes, this is what pops up "The instruction at “0x0426a09” referenced memory at “0x00000044”. The memory could not be “read”.." I posted on the apple support site but they have not gotten back to me in weeks. I go to restart the ipod service but it starts and then stops and says application error and the memory could not be read. I have completely removed and reinstalled and updated itunes and ipod but it still doesn't work. I would be grateful to anyone who could help me.

See this Apple website for some suggested troubleshooting ideas.

Thank you for trying but I tried almost everything on that page and it still isn't working. I keep on trying to find things in apple's discussion page but the site fails a lot for some reason. I think I figured out that ipod updater is not supported by the new version of itunes but I can't find a separate installer for the new ipod updater. I am not sure if you know anything about that but any other help would be great. Thanks for your time.

I have had problems with the iPod Updater software causing problems on systems. Uninstall it and update your software manually.

What do I install instead? I have installed many different versions and I can't figure it out?

Sorry, but I only know 3 things about iPods

1) Uninstall the updating software
2) Reboot the iPod
3) Upgrade the software on the iPod

After that I leave the iPod problems to the kids that I work with - they know a whole lot more than I do! :flowers:
