Hey there,
Apart from receiving many pop ups, whenever i try to access popular websites like apple.com, itunes.com, youtube.com etc i get redirected to some other websites, most of the time this website www.miaminews365.net/look.php?aff=8131&subaff=1312&qq=games...

I have used adaware, spybot search and destroy and norton anti virus to scan and destroy all the bugs found. However the same problem arises after a while.

Would appreciate all the help i can get. Thanks.

My log:

Hello,

* Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a bit. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open, combofix.txt.
Post the contents of this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

This means that certain parts of Combofix got deleted... Most probably because of your Norton.
So, disable Norton and try to download Combofix again.

Also disable Norton Scriptblocking Service:

* Disable the Script Blocking Service:
  • To open Services, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.
  • Find ScriptBlocking services, Right-click the service, and then click and then click Properties. On the General tab, under Startup, click Disabled.
  • Under Service Status, click Stop button. Click Apply button.
* Disable the Script Blocking In Norton Settings:
  • Start Norton Antivirus.
  • Click Options. If a menu appears when you click Options, then click Norton Antivirus. The Norton Antivirus Options dialog box appears.
  • Click Script Blocking.
  • Uncheck Enable Script Blocking (recommended).
  • Click OK
You can reenable it afterwards when everything is clean again.

Hi,

I see you let Limewire startup with Windows. This is a bad idea to let p2p programs startup with Windows; so we'll remove the startup here as well.

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\Documents and Settings\FU\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\LimeWire On Startup.lnk
C:\WINDOWS\system32\acluis.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\aayhhrdb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bxphnvie.dll

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{0edc6c20-a31c-11db-8ab9-0800200c9a66}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{3AAC4C68-AFC8-11DB-80EF-8AF955D89593}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\winghy32]

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

Your logs look clean again.

Delete the C:\Qoobox folder.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Hi,

yea got the latest java already.

The version I see in your HijackThislog isn't the latest version though: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10
The latest version is C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02
So make sure you have that version

Glad I could help. :flowers:

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.
