I'm pretty sure this comp has quite a bit of spyware and I cannot find an Ad-Aware version that works with Windows Me. Anyways, below is the log. Thanks!

I've been fighting this computer for days now. I ran BitDefender and SpyBot and the computer had over 100 viruses and over 200 spyware. I have now reinstalled windows me twice (computer doesn't have a floppy disc drive so I can't do a "fresh" install). If someone could please look over this hijackthis log and let me know if something looks suspicious that would be great. The computer still isn't performing the way it should, I may have to reinstall windows again. Thanks for your help.

Hello strongboy2005

I will be handling your log to help you get cleaned up.

I need to see another HijackThis log, but you need to extract (unzip) HijackThis first. Otherwise the backups made when items are fixed won't be secure. The easiest way to accomplish this is to reinstall and delete any copies of HijackThis.zip you have saved.

Please download the self-extracting version of HijackThis from here:

HijackThis_sfx download

Save HijackThis.exe to your desktop.

Double-click the file then click the Unzip button. Then close the Self-Extractor window.

Using My Computer/Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe to run it. If you would like to make a shortcut for your Desktop so it's more easily accessable, right click HijackThis.exe and choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut).

Please run the extracted HijackThis.exe from now on. Delete any copies of HijackThis.zip that you have saved.

Open HijackThis and click Do a system scan and save a log file. Copy the entire contents of that log and post it here by clicking the Add Reply button.

Hi strongboy2005,

Demon Cleaner is currently not able to answer you, so I will be taking over.

I noticed that you are running an outdated version of HijackThis. Please remove your current HijackThis and lets install a current version into an easily remembered and safe location:
  • Please click here to download hijackthis.exe
  • Save hijackthis.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the hijackthis.exe icon on your desktop then install it.
  • Using My Computer/Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe to run it.
  • If you would like to make a shortcut for your Desktop so it's more easily accessable, right click HijackThis.exe and choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut).
  • Click "Do a system scan only". HijackThis will make a quick scan and show you a list of entries.
