My Internet Explorer 6.0 has been booting very slowly recently. After it opens everything works fine...just takes a while to open.

Also, I have found that when I explore (right click on start and explore) and double click a file, it does not open, system seems to then freeze.

I have run NIS and no viruses appear.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you deleted your temp internet files and cookies? Also clear your Reslover Cache.

Try an online scan to ensure that your NIS hasn't been corrupted. Here's 2 free one's:

You could consider using Firefox.

zbd,

How does the use of Firefox help with the windows explorer issue? Yes it may be a help as a 'workaround' for a singular IE issue. But it does not help with the windows explorer issue.

The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.

You cannot use Fire fox and do the microsoft scan.

I did the scan and it found viruses. I tried to copy and paste into this message but it wouldnt allow me. It stated that some of the problems couldn't be fixed. Took all night to run through everything just about.

What do I do now? I did delete the items that were backedup in the quarantine. It is still very slow opening and my explore doesnt open files quickly either and sometimes not at all.

There's not much that we can do to fix these issues if there's still malware on your system. Our attempts will be subverted by the malware, and the malware may actually become harder to find because of it.

The problems that you're experiencing are likely to be the result of this malware - so following the 2 links that I mentioned above will help to remove it. Once it's gone we can fix the problems that may remain.

I just checked my startup and I have found lots of worm stuff....

qttask.exe
jusched.exe
NvCpl
nwiz
NvMcTray
SNDMon
ctfmon.exe

I will run adaware and nis in safe mode and try and get rid of these worms.

Have you checked those processes on a reference site like this one?

Some of those are legit and some aren't.

Most of those processes are probably legitimate.

qttask.exe - Most likely for running QuickTime in your system tray (not needed)
jusched.exe - Most likely for running the Java updates (not needed)
NvCpl - Most likely for your graphics drivers (needed)
nwiz - Most likely for your graphics control panel (not needed)
NvMcTray - Most likely for your graphics also (don't think it's needed, but could be)
SNDMon - Most likely for your Symantec/Norton products (probably needed)
ctfmon.exe - Most likely for alternative input of text on your system (probably not needed)

But it also depends on where they're located (especially the ctfmon.exe).

Just continue on with the steps in the links and you'll rid yourself of the infections. Once we're sure it's clean, then we'll fix everything else.
