Firstly, as a newcomer to this site, my apologies if the answer is posted somewhere else and I haven't been able to locate it. I have a rather annoying virus manifesting itself as a shield located on the quick launch bar next to the clock, that constantly changes from a red X to a blue ? and every so often launches a popup telling me I'm infected with spyware virus. Clicking on the popup starts Internet Explorer and takes me to www.virusprotectpro.com Clicking on the icon either left or right, launches IE. Windows is very good at telling you how to drag icons to the quick launch bar, but I can't find anything about removing icons from this bar. My current anti-spyware programmes have no effect- Norton - AVG antispyware 7.5 or SUPER Antispyware. For some reason I don't feel inclined to download the programme from Virusprotectpro.com

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Here are two ways to remove vpp, one is to follow the Instructions here. The other is to download Rogue Remover Free from malwarebytes.org.
The name says it all -- 59 and holding permanently

Super Antispyware updated late yesterday with several Smitfraud variants. It is best to run it in safe mode, also.
