How to remove Spyware Preventer (Uninstall Instructions)Posted by Lawrence Abrams on August 25, 2008 @ 10:25 PM · Views: 8,209
What this infection does: Spyware Preventer is a new rogue anti-spyware program from the family of programs that include XPert Antivirus Enterprise and MS Antivirus 2008. Spyware Preventer is typically advertised through misleading pop-ups and advertisements that state that your computer is infected. If you click on these ads you will be brought to a page that pretends to be an anti-malware scanner. This advertisement will pretend to scan your computer and when finished will state that your computer is infected and that you should download Spyware Preventer to clean your computer. Though this screen will look legitimate, it is important to realize that this is just an advertisement on the Web and it has absolutely no idea what is running on your computer. If you decide to download and install Spyware Preventer, it will be set to run automatically when your computer starts. Once started, it will proceed to scan your computer for malware, and when finished, will display a variety of infections on your computer that cannot be removed unless you first purchase the program. These infections, though, are not real and are only shown to scare you into purchasing the software. Due to the fact that Spyware Preventer is always running, it can cause your computer to run slower and to periodically display pop-ups advertising the program.
This guide will walk you through uninstalling Spyware Preventer and any related malware that may be installed with it.
