How to remove MS AntivirusPosted by Lawrence Abrams on August 21, 2008 @ 11:36 AM · Views: 159,287
What this infection does: MS Antivirus is a rogue anti-spyware program that belongs to the same family as Vitae Antivirus 2008 and Vista Antivirus 2008. MS Antivirus has the same characteristics as its predecessors; it is advertised through misleading sites, lists false infections on your computer, and requires you to purchase the program before you can remove anything. Once installed MS Antivirus will be set to run automatically when your computer starts. Once the program has started, it will automatically scan your computer and list a variety of infections that cannot be removed unless you first purchase the program. If you decide not to purchase the program, then you will then be constantly harassed with popups stating that the program has found infections and that you should register it in order to fix them. This type of behavior can cause your computer to operate slower than normal. MS Antivirus will also occasionally display fake pop-up alerts on your computer. These alerts pretend to be a detection of an attack on your computer and the alert prompts you to activate, or purchase, the software in order to stop the attack. The attack that it identifies is one from an old infection called Blaster/Sasser. When you receive these alerts, remember not to panic as they are fake and only being shown to scare you into purchasing the software.
This guide will walk you through uninstalling the MS Antivirus rogue and any related malware that may be installed with it.
