This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") is designed to inform you about the type of information that Bleeping Computer LLC ("BleepingComputer", "we" and "us" ) may gather or collect from you in connection with your use of this site (this "Site"). It also explains the conditions under which we use and disclose that information, and your rights in relation to that information. BY ACCESSING THIS SITE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS POLICY, IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE, OR IF YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED BY LAW TO ENTER INTO LEGAL OBLIGATIONS, YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE SITE. WE MAY MODIFY THE POLICY FROM TIME TO TIME AND POST THOSE MODIFICATIONS HERE. EACH TIME YOU USE THE SITE, THE CURRENT VERSION OF THE PRIVACY POLICY WILL APPLY. ACCORDINGLY, WHEN YOU USE THE SITE, YOU SHOULD CHECK THE DATE OF THIS POLICY (WHICH APPEARS AT THE TOP) AND REVIEW ANY CHANGES SINCE THE LAST VERSION. YOUR CONTINUED USE OF THE SITE AFTER ANY SUCH MODIFICATION CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE MODIFIED POLICY. 2. Overview of the information we collect. A. Personally Identifying Information BleepingComputer will collect personally identifying information (e.g., name, e-mail address, postal address), from you when you voluntarily provide such information. For example, you may submit personally identifiable information (i) to register with the Site or use interactive parts of our Site where users can provide content and suggestions or participate in interactive discussions and/or (ii) to participate in optional events, sweepstakes, contests or promotion registrations. B. Aggregate Information Aggregate information is non-personally identifiable/anonymous information, such as type of web browser used, type of operating system, the domain name of your Internet Service Provider, and IP addresses. Each time a visitor (whether they are registered or not) connects to a page on the Site, we may log that visitor's IP address. This is a common practice used by many sites and is used to track which pages visitors access and how long they spend there. Cookies are small text files that a web site sets on your computer in your hard drive in order to recognize you in the future. Cookies make using our Site easier, as they allow you to register an account, stay logged in as you traverse the Site, and save your password for future visits. Third parties may use cookies as described in Section 4 below. You may disable cookies at any time. But, if you do not allow cookies from BleepingComputer, then you may not be able to use certain features of the Site. Certain web pages may contain invisible images, sometimes called web beacons that allow a web site to count users who have visited that page. BleepingComputer will only use web beacons within its Site for statistical purposes. Third parties may use web beacons as described in Section 4 below. 3. Use and Disclosure of information collected by BleepingComputer A. Personally Identifiable Information We may use personally identifiable information for the following purposes: (i) validation of a user's registration, (ii) topic and forum subscription notifications, (iii) for the Site administrator to contact the particular user, (iv) to notify a user that he or she won a contest, (iv) performing customer service activities, (v) making available services to you or notifying you about new services or offers you may find valuable. If you wish to opt-out of receiving marketing materials from us, please follow the instructions at the bottom of each email for opting out. Personally identifiable information will not be disclosed to any third parties, except as follows:
B. Aggregate Information BleepingComputer uses aggregate information for the purpose of operating and improving the Site, fostering a positive user experience and delivering the products and services that we offer. We may sell, share or trade compiled aggregate information with third parties. As stated earlier, no single person can be identified by such aggregate information. 4. Do any third parties collect information about me on the Site? BleepingComputer uses Crowd Science to deliver surveys where we ask generic questions to our users. These surveys will be randomly shown to unregistered members as a small prompt at the bottom of the site. If you do not wish to take part in the survey you can either decline it, or ignore the message and it will go away shortly. If you participate in a survey, you will be issued a cookie from Crowd Science so that you do not get prompted to participate in another survey for 3 months. This cookie will not be used for any other reason. These surveys allow us to collect non-personally identifying information about our visitors in order to create interesting and quality content and advertising campaigns. Under no circumstances will any personally identifying information be asked during these surveys. We use third party advertising companies, such as Google, Netshelter, Kontera, and Tribal Fusion to serve third party ads. These third party ads will be reasonably identifiable as coming from a third party. Third party advertisers may use cookies (as defined above) or web beacons to collect non-personally identifying information such as IP Address, and pages viewed. If a conversion occurred during your visit to this third party website or third-party advertiser, this information may be used to show third party advertisements that are likely to be more interesting to you. To learn more about this behavioral advertising practice, you can visit www.networkadvertising.org. We do not have access to or control over web beacons or cookies that third parties may use, and the information practices of third parties are not covered by this Privacy Policy but are covered by the third parties privacy policies.
