How to remove The Last Defender (Removal Instructions)Posted by Grinler on March 1, 2008 @ 12:03 PM · Views: 1,655
What this programs does: The Last Defender is a rogue antispyware program that utilizes misleading popups and web sites to indicate that your computer is infected with malware. When you visit a web site advertising The Last Defender, you will be presented with what looks like an anti-malware scan on your computer. When the scan is finished, the web site will popup a window stating that you are infected with a variety of malware and stating you should install Last Defender in order to remove these infections. If you click on this popup, Internet Explorer will attempt to download the program. Once installed, Last Defender will scan your computer and list a variety of false positives that state legitimate programs are malware infections. In order to remove these so-called infections, though, you must first purchase a license of the software. This method of deliberately listing valid files as infections and then requiring you to purchase the software to remove them is a scam and should be avoided. Screen shots of The Last Defender program and a false positive can be found below.
