Serial Port
Serial Ports are used to communicate with external devices such as modems and mice. They tend to be much slower than USB and Firewire so are generally not used to transfer large sizes of data.
These ports are common referred to as COM ports and are symbolically named COM1, COM2, COM3, and COM4.
